The Perfect Guide on How To Dress For A Wedding Miami. After attending a recent wedding, we stopped to talk about how difficult it can be choosing what to wear. It seems that there are so many rules to follow and you’re almost guaranteed to offend at least someone. But we like playing by our own rules. So here are our tips for dressing for a wedding:

If you’re headed to a formal wedding or one that requires “black-tie” (it should note this on the invite), opt for a long dress or gown. Solid, darker colors are usually best. Keep in mind the colors the bride has chosen for the wedding. Have fun with it – choose something you wouldn’t normally wear (you’ll see I chose one with a slit). When else will you have a chance to dress up like this?

If you’re headed to a more casual wedding or one that requires “cocktail” attire, usually go for a shorter style dress – patterns welcome! Have fun with this as well and pair with a killer set of shoes. If this wedding happens to be a beach wedding, think flowy, feminine dresses – long or short – that don’t hug too tightly to your body as you’ll want as much air moving in and out as possible!

On to the men…                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 If you’re headed to a formal wedding, the most traditional suit to wear is a black tuxedo. But that’s definitely changing. As long as you’re wearing a very sharp suit, you can get away with wearing a tie or a different color – which is what I chose to do. Adding a pocket square elevates the look even more.                                                                                                                  If you’re headed to a more casual wedding, or beach wedding, feel free to lose the jacket and/or tie. Dress for the heat and balance a look that still feels very put together with pieces that will breathe.
